Candle care.
Follow these six simple rules to get the most from your candle.
- Trim the wick before each burn. Cut the wick to 1/4 inch. A trimmed wick burns cleaner, produces less smoke, and prevents mushrooming (that black carbon ball at the tip).
- Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface. Use stone, ceramic, glass, or metal. Avoid wood, plastic, or fabric surfaces that may be damaged by heat.
- Burn for no longer than four hours at a stretch. Longer burns can overheat the vessel and damage the surface underneath. If you'd like to burn again, let the candle cool for at least two hours.
- Keep away from drafts, fans, and air vents. Moving air can cause uneven burning, wick flutter, and excess smoking.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always stay in the room. If you leave, blow it out.
- Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep candles in a cabinet or drawer away from warm spots, windowsills, and heat sources like radiators or vents.
Honest notes
Color may vary slightly from candle to candle — that's natural variation in our hand-poured process. It doesn't affect performance.
Burning outdoors is possible but not recommended. Wind, humidity, and temperature changes can affect burn rate, scent throw, and wick behavior. For best results, burn indoors in a draft-free room.
